All About Paris, KY

Paris is a home rule-class city in Bourbon County. Joseph Houston settled a station in the area in 1776 but was forced to relocate due to prior land grants. In 1786, Lawrence Protzman purchased the area of present-day Paris from its owners, platted 250 acres (100 ha) for a town, and offered land for public buildings in exchange for the Virginia legislature making the settlement the seat of the newly formed Bourbon County. In 1789, the town was formally established as Hopewell after Hopewell, New Jersey, his hometown. The next year, it was renamed Paris after the French capital to match its county and honor the French assistance during the American Revolution.

Paris clearly has a rich history, but it’s also a tourist destination. Come see and learn for yourself why Clairborne is known as one of the most iconic Thoroughbred breeding farms in Kentucky’s Horse Country! Visit the historic Cane Ridge Meeting House. Check out the exhibits or see a show at the Hopewell Museum. For dinner, we suggest the fried green tomatoes and the traditional Kentucky hot brown at Trackside. Every year, people flock to Paris to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Paris, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They even know how take care of the moles that can ruin your landscaping – and the money you spent on it. It may be hard to take care of all the moles at Hopewell Springs Park, but they can help your backyard stay free from them.
