All About St. Matthews, KY
St. Matthews is city in Jefferson County. The area eventually known as St. Matthews was first settled by European Americans in 1779 during the American Revolutionary War by Col. James John Floyd of Virginia. He had conducted an important survey of the Jefferson County area in 1774, and bought 2,000 acres of land from Virginia and other colonial veterans who had been awarded the parcels for their service in the French and Indian War (known as the Seven Years’ War in Europe). He arrived overland on November 8, 1779, bringing several family members with him. They built cabins and a stockade, which came to be known as “Floyd’s Station.”
St. Matthews clearly has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Do some mega zips, take a mega tram, or do a mega quest at Mega Cavern. Have a laugh at the The Caravan Comedy Club. Try your luck at the Derby City Gaming Hotel, but remember the house always wins. For dinner, head back to St. Matthews! We suggest the Rueben egg rolls and the bangers and mash at The Raven Irish Pub & Restaurant. Every year, people flock to St. Matthews to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in St. Matthews, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.
